Are we going to pretend Pope John Paul II didn’t participate in an ecumenical prayer session earlier than 1995? If we are going to cal out Prevost and Borgolio how about Karol? Not a good look for any of them.

It´s been over a week and deafening silence from the Vatican. Multiple reports confirming the events of 1995 and it is worse than we thought.

Well written, but ...... Jesus only sent us to His Father for the fullnes of His Fathering of us, and for His healings for us, and He gave to us the Our Father Prayer for relationship with our Father and for comforting of us. We are in Christ Jesus, and He is in us by the working of God the Holy Spirit.

See John 16: 26-27, where Jesus says for us to go to the Father in His Name to make our requests, and that He, Jesus, will not go for us, because our Father loves us because we love Jesus.

Let us love Mother Mary, who is ever Virgin, and who is the Mother of God Incarnate, Jesus Christ, which motherhood, is the greatest gift any woman could have from our Father and let us pray that the men who are ordained to Christ's priesthood, make use, by the Holy Spirit of God, of the gifts given to the Catholic Church which are listed in 1 Corinthians.

God bless, C-Marie

The synod took place October 6 - 27 (not November).

WE catholics must demand orthodoxy from Rome. It has gotten to the point where the leadership of the Catholic Church, including the pope has become an enemy of God and the Blessed Mother. There evil people must be driven out of the church.

I don’t need anyone to lead me to Jesus. He says I am the truth, the way and the life. No one comes to the Father but through me not Mary. The vail was torn in the temple when Jesus died which means we have direct access to the throne. No mediator is needed. Any worship of anyone else is idolatry.

You must be a protestant that is ignorant of the catholic view of Mary. God's will is more important than your human reasonings. God wishes his Mother to be a conduit of his Grace and the way to his Son Jesus. We certainly can go directly to God but God wishes devotion to his most holy mother.

Excellent article! I would think that a priest who has been publicly recorded paying homage to a pagan idol needs to publicly reconciled with the Church. I don’t think it’s a private confession matter, except perhaps when in imminent danger of death.

For that matter, when was Cardinal Josyf Slipyj, the Major Archbishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, who secretly consecrated Bishop Lubomyr Husar (along with two other bishops, Ivan Choma and Stefan Czmil) on April 2, 1977, without papal mandate, formally and publicly readmitted to union with the Catholic Church? We are told that in Archbishop Lefebvre’s act it’s ipso facto automatic excommunication!

One might fashion an entirely new name from the last two Pachamama chief idolaters, who—whether shocking or not to many Catholics—appear less as true vicars of the divine and more as stewards of earthly, sand-wrought idols.

God bless you n yours Elizabeth. Thank you for this article and ….i think we all know the answer to your final question.

Gayln Perry's avatar

Why is Jesus subjugated to Mary in this piece. It’s always about Mary. Is this not pagan worship as well? Jesus must always be the focus. Not Mary.

Dianne Raimondi's avatar

Please leave us catholics along. Im sick of your protestants drivel. Mary is infallible the mother of God and conduit of His graces. This is our catholic belief and its not idolatry because this is God's will to honor HIS MOTHER!!

Fred's avatar

To Jesus through Mary is time honored Catholic teaching. Leave your Protestant scruples behind. Our Lord is not jealous of His mother, because she always leads us to Him.

Gayln Perry

Time honored Catholic teaching doesn’t trump biblical truth. Jesus would not be jealous of anyone but he would be furious that one would expect anyone to lead them to him or make that a stipulation that is unbiblical.

I don’t need anyone to lead me to Jesus nor do you. He says I am the truth, the way and the life. No one comes to the Father but through me not Mary. The vail was torn in the temple when Jesus died which means we have direct access to the throne. No mediator is needed. Any worship of anyone else is idolatry. Any expectation of a mediator adds to scripture.

Fred's avatar

Christ commands that you lead others to Him. That’s mediation. He does not need you to do it, but still he commands His disciples to go forth preaching and baptizing.

Gayln Perry's avatar

We’re not talking about discipleship here. We are talking about needing Mary specifically to lead me to Christ for access. Mary is a human. Jesus is my savior. I have direct access to him and adding Mary to the gospel of salvation is idolatry and no less heresy.

Fred's avatar

Now you’ve switched your language to “necessity”. Sleight of hand. The fact is you do not embrace Christ’s gift of Mary to us as spiritual Mother from His Cross. So much for your Biblical fidelity.

Gayln Perry's avatar

Show me in scripture where Jesus gives us Mary as our spiritual mother. This is Catholic teaching, but not scriptural doctrine.
